Outline works: Stone restoration and repairs to building facade
Main stone contractor
Contract Value: £40,000
Material: Portland Stone
The building was completely cleaned and had major restoration to the exterior stone work. Cutting out degraded and damaged stone to sill and lintels, replacing with new Portland Stone cut and shaped to fit. Missing pilasters were cast and replaced.
The key to this building is the large ornate carving that was very badly damaged, using Portland dust mixes on pre-drilled pins allowed us to rebuild the missing pieces.
Careful consideration went into the preparation of the restoration works of Cavendish Square. Being a busy and thriving part of London Health and Safety was as always at the top of our agenda, so all the necessary precautions were made
before works commenced so the public were never at risk. The complete exterior was pressure washed on a low PSI to prevent further damage and a Bi Carb was used as enviromentally friendly cleaner.
